Ghostbusters' ECTO-1
3ds max, Photoshop, VRay, XSI

Hello everyone. I'm a native XSI modeler from São Paulo, Brazil. This is my first time posting anything to CG Society's CGTalk Gallery.

As a person who grew up in the 80's and 90's, it's hard to imagine who didn't love the action, adventure and fantasy movies from that period, like Back to the Future, Terminator or Ghostbusters.

As a challenge to myself, I decided to model to the best of my ability the Ectomobile-1, none other than the Ghostbusters' car from the film!

The Ectomobile-1 was born off a 1959 Cadillac Meteor Ambulance, bought for 1400 dollars by Dr. Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd) in the film. After extensive remodeling, the Ghostbusters finally got their ride!

As a learning experience to 3ds Max in order to expand my 3D programs knowledge, I took my initial model from XSI and imported it to Max for UVW unwrapping, texturing, lighting and rendering with Vray. I then took the rendered image to Photoshop, where I was able to bump the crispness and sharpness.

The result you see here was reached after two (almost three) months of work - and hair pulling. Good thing I got a fair amount of hair!

You can find a lot of the XSI WIP images I took in my CGPortfolio as well!

Comments are very welcome!
